Senior midfielder Keith Long, a graduate of Falls Church High School and lacrosse player for the Virginia Military Institute, was tabbed First Team by Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference coaches.
Over the course of his career, Long has tallied 52 assists in 56 career games, ranking him 25th among active Division I players in total assists. He leaves VMI eighth all-time in program history in assists, besting former teammate and fellow three-time All-MAAC selection Tim Moran (47). Long has eclipsed the 40-point mark in each of the last two seasons, including a career-best 42 points this year on 24 goals and 18 assists.
Over the course of 2011 and 2012, Long failed to score in just one game, but more than made up for it this year with 12 multiple point games.
On April 14, Long became the 13th member of VMI’s 100-point club, capping his career with 107 points. His milestone tally came on an assist to Anderson Caldwell in the second quarter.
As of May 3, Long was ranked 48th in 2012 for points per game, averaging 3.0 per game.
