City of Falls Church, VA Crime Report for June 19 – July 2, 2012

NOTE: This report is not a definitive list of all criminal activity and is subject to change upon investigation.

Assault & Battery, Resisting Arrest, Trespassing, and Public Drunkenness, 1121-B W. Broad St. (Pete’s Towing) On June 20, police arrived to the location for a report of a towing dispute. Police received information that the subject entered the secure property with a posted “No trespass” sign. The subject who appeared intoxicated also assaulted the victim. While officers placed the subject under arrest, he resisted. A male, 35, of Alexandria, was arrested for Assault & Battery, Resisting Arrest, Trespassing, and Public Drunkenness.

Larceny from Building, 450 W. Broad St. (Panera Bread) On June 21, an unknown suspect(s) stole an unsecure wallet and cell phone from a customer.

Larceny from Building, 900 block Ellison St. On June 23, a bicycle was reported stolen. It was last seen unsecure on a patio.

Public Drunkenness, 100 block W. Broad St. (George Mason Square) On June 24, a male, 26, of Herndon, was arrested for Public Drunkenness.

Driving Under the Influence and Refusal To Submit to a Blood or Breath Test, 300 block W. Broad St. On June 24, an officer conducted a traffic stop for a motor vehicle violation. The driver, a male, 33, of Hyattsville, MD, was arrested for Driving Under the Influence and for Refusing to Submit to a Blood or Breath Test.

Driving Under the Influence and Refusal To Submit to a Blood or Breath Test, 6700 block Wilson Blvd. On June 25, an officer conducted a traffic stop for a motor vehicle violation. The driver, a male, 37, of Vienna, was arrested for Driving Under the Influence and for Refusing to Submit to a Blood or Breath Test.

Larceny from Building, 201 N. Washington St. (Kaiser Permanente) On June 25, a cell phone was reported stolen. The phone was last seen on May 31.

Shoplifting, 1212 W. Broad St. (VABC Store) On June 25, the business reported a bottle of liquor was stolen at approximately 1 p.m. The offender was described as a white male in his 40’s or 50’s, 5’7″, and 160 lbs. He was seen wearing a grey shorts, a white t-shirt, a baseball cap and a pair of prescription glasses.

Discharge of Firearm In an Occupied Dwelling, 600 block Hillwood Ave. On June 25, officers responded to the area for a report of a man who poured gasoline on himself and threatened to light the house and himself on fire. Officers were able to evacuate all other residents. The subject then discharged a firearm while he barricaded himself for approximately 29 hours. Falls Church tactical units were deployed along with mutual aid from multiple jurisdictions. The subject later surrendered himself where he was transported to a local hospital and later released to police custody. A male, 57, of the City of Falls Church, was arrested for Discharging a Firearm in an Occupied Dwelling.

Grand Larceny, 238 W. Broad St. (Maneki Neko Japanese Restaurant) On June 26, police received a late report that 200 gallons of unspent cooking oil was stolen from the rear parking lot sometime before March 13.

Public Drunkenness, 201 S. Washington St. (7-Eleven) On June 24, a male, 59, of Falls Church; and a male, 37, of Fairfax, were arrested for Public Drunkenness.

Vandalism to Vehicle, 6700 block Wilson Blvd. (Eden Center) On June 27, police received a report of a vehicle with multiple deep scratches in the parking lot.

Harassing Phone Calls, 900 block Ellison St. On June 27, a man who appeared intoxicated called 911 multiple times without any need for emergency services. A male, 24, of Falls Church, was arrested and released on summons for Calling Emergency Services with Intent to Annoy.

False Report of a Crime, 2800 block Flagmaker Dr. On June 29, officers received a report from TDY caller that a man was shot and was threatening to shoot another person. Police were able to secure the residence and determined the call was a hoax. No persons were harmed.

Trespassing, 900 Ellison St. (Berman Park) On June 30, a male, 30, of the City of Falls Church, was arrested and released on summons for Trespassing.

Driving Under the Influence, 6600 block Wilson Blvd. On June 30, an officer conducted a traffic stop for a motor vehicle violation. The driver, a male, 34, of Arlington, was arrested for Driving Under the Influence.

Commercial Burglary, 706 S. Washington St. (Rosalin’s Bridal Boutique) On July 1, police responded to a report of a burglary which occurred some time after 12 p.m. on June 30 while there was no electricity. Several pieces of bridal merchandise were stolen.

Public Drunkenness, 100 block N. Washington St. On July 2, a male, 51, no fixed address, was arrested for Public Drunkenness.

Trespassing, 6700 block Wilson Blvd. (Eden Center) On July 2, a male, 54, no fixed address, was arrested and released on summons for Trespassing.
