Falls Church’s Dylan Shawn Cooper, 19, of Electrocution During Derecho

Dylan Shawn Cooper, 19, of 2128 Haycock Road in Falls Church died on Sunday, July 15, as a result of injuries he sustained Friday, June 29, shortly after 11 p.m. as the historic “derecho” storm raged through the region. Cooper was found unconscious, in the vicinity of downed power lines on Haycock Road. The office of Fairfax County’s Chief Medical Examiner determined the cause of death to be electrocution and the manner to be accidental. His death became the third in the region attributed to the storm.

Cooper passed away at the Halquist Hospice in Arlington, Va. He is survived by his brother Daniel David Cooper, his mother Danette Cox-Cooper, father David L. Cooper and girl friend Mary Earley. A memorial service was held this morning at the St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Arlington.
