Mediation Service Archive Relocates Out of F.C.

Since 1992, the Friends of the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS) History archive has occupied space in the basement at 200 Little Falls St. across from the F.C. City Hall. This 501c3 foundation, founded and operated by former F.C. School Board member Jerry Barrett, has gathered, preserved and publicized the history of FMCS, a U.S. government agency which mediates disputes between labor and management.

The entire archive collection was recently donated to the Special Collections division of the George Washington University library in Washington, D.C. where it will be available to students and faculty for research and study. Some 225 boxes of historic materials will move to GWU in several shipments. The collection included papers, records, books, film, photos, and over 175 oral history interviews conducted by Barrett.
