School Board Seeking ‘Letters of Interest’ to Fill Seat Vacated by Wodiska

The Falls Church School Board is seeking “Letters of Interest” from citizens interested in appointment to the board filling a position vacated by former board member Joan Wodiska Wednesday. Those interested must live within Falls Church City limits, be a bona fide resident of the City of Falls Church and must be a qualified voter. You cannot be a Falls Church City Public Schools employee.

Preference will be given to candidates who have shown their commitment to the Falls Church community by having served previously on a school or general government board or commission. They are also expected to have attended at least one Falls Church School Board meeting previously or are planning to attend the meeting on January 17th. Candidates should also understand and have experience with the FCCPS budgeting process, be a strong advocate for our schools and understand the importance of a world class education.

The appointee will serve until December 31, 2013.

Those interested in being considered should send a “Letter of Interest” and include answers to the following questions:

• On what board(s), commission(s), committee(s) or SAO(s) have you served?

• What other expertise or experience do you bring to the school board?

• What is your understanding of the job of a school board member and the time commitment involved?

Qualified candidates may be asked to an interview on Tuesday, January 22.
