McGuire Moves on After MEH Geography Bee Win

Seventh-grade student Cooper McGuire correctly answered Chile to the final question: “The Yagahn are a tribe indigenous to Tierra del Fuego, an island chain that is shared between Argentina and which other country?” to win the 2012-13 Mary Ellen Henderson Middle School Geography Bee earlier this month.

McGuire will now represent MEHMS in the next round, which will require him to take a qualifying test for entrance into the national level competition. Henry Middlebrook (seventh grade) was the runner-up, and Ellie Murri (sixth grade) finished in third. Other participants were Caleb Parnell, Erin Dean, and Nina Rifkin, fifth grade; Nicholas Wells and Luke Sausville, sixth grade; and Isabella Ashton, seventh grade.
