Kate Rodehau of Falls Church, a member of the Pi Delta Chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi at the University of Maryland, was recently honored with a prestigious award at the 52nd International Convention of the Fraternity.
The Stella George Stern Perry Award honors one collegiate chapter president that leads with outstanding service to the chapter, exceptional inspiration to its members, and recognition by administration and other fellow students. Named after one of the organization’s four founders and first collegiate president of AOII, the award is bestowed on the collegiate chapter president who best typifies and brings honor to the values and principles practiced by Stella George Stern Perry.
Shortly following her installation as president, Rodehau’s chapter faced the tragedy of losing a sister. Rodehau became a rock for the rest of the chapter to lean on and impressively organized counseling sessions for the chapter members as well as transportation and accommodations for the entire chapter to attend the funeral in another state. In the months that followed, the chapter flourished under her guidance.
