This Saturday, the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center with an open house. During the celebration, visitors will get a rare chance to go behind-the-scenes to areas of the museum normally off-limits to the public.
At the open house, visitors will be able to walk through the restoration area and get an up-close view of the work being done by collections specialists. In addition, there will be hands-on activities for all ages and attendees will get a chance to meet astronaut Stephen Robinson, learn how the aircraft are hung for display and kids will even be able to build their own plane.
Admission to the open house and museum is free.
