State Del. Mark Sickles of the southern Fairfax County-based 43rd District and House Democratic Caucus chair Mark Sickles announced today that he will seek the Democratic nomination to run for the U.S. congressional seat being vacated by Rep. Jim Moran this year. Sickles joins a growing field of Democrats who will vie in a June 10 party primary, a field that is expected to continue growing. Sickles touts the endorsement of Fairfax County Board Chair Sharon Bulova and State Sen. Toddy Puller.
“I will never give up the fight for middle-class working families, increased and affordable educational opportunities, better transportation solutions, and equality, choice, and other progressive values that are under constant threat in Washington,” Sickles said in today’s statement announcing his candidacy.
