Volkho Ruhnke, the designer of the board game “Fire in the Lake: Insurgency in Vietnam,” decided to donate royalties from the game to chapter 227 of Vietnam Veterans of America, Inc., the group announced last week.

According to the announcement, Ruhnke made the decision to donate royalties from the game after hearing about chapter 227’s veteran and community outreach programs at its January 2014 membership meeting. Ruhnke’s initial donation was $9,475.38.

The board game’s main objective is to educate game players about the Vietnam War. More information about the game is on GMT Games’ website, gmtgames.com.
