“She Loves Me,” Arena Stage, Washington, D.C., through Sunday Dec. 31.
I am advised by my special consultants that this is a thoroughly-enjoyable, not to be missed evening in the theatre, perfect as a family-friendly (in more ways than one) musical that is wholly representative of the quintessential Broadway musical of that wonderful post-World War II era. The mix of gently sappy and optimistic was unique to that era, as the cult classic film, “It’s a Wonderful Life,” reflects. That was at least until Joe McCarthy spoiled the fun. I also recommend the famous comedy “Noises Off” at the Arena, which is also currently showing, but you have until the end of January 28 to get to that one.
