Doc Scantlin and His Imperial Palms Orchestra, Saturday, Oct. 6, 8 p.m. at the Alden Theatre at the McLean Community Center, 1234 Ingleside Ave., McLean.

If I wasn’t already committed to all the drama associated with being a table captain at a giant fundraiser in D.C. this Saturday night, I’d be hangin’ at the McLean Community Center to enjoy Doc Scantlin’s music of the 1920s speakeasy, 1930s romantic elegance and 1940s swing eras. From “Puttin’ on the Ritz” and “The Charleston” to the tunes of  Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, George Gershwin and swing music of Benny Goodman and Glenn Muller, Doc will bring them all alive. Tickets are available at $34 available at the box office, call (703) 790-9233 or from 703-573-SEAT. Also, check www.mcleancenter.org  for directions, etc.
