Annette Spector, executive director of Falls Church-based Diagnostic Resource & Educational Services, has officially retired after 45 years of experience working with children in the area. Well known and respected in education circles, Spector will remain in Falls Church through the summer but plans to move to San Francisco in the late summer or early fall. Elevation Burger has opened a new franchise location in the Lee Harrison Shopping Center located at 2447 N. Harrison Street in Arlington. Elevation Burger offers burgers from organic grass fed, free range cows along with vegetarian and vegan burgers and fresh cut French fries cooked in olive oil. The locally founded restaurant now has two restaurants in Northern Virginia and seven more in Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Texas. Additional restaurants are opening soon in Washington, DC, Florida, and New York. The original Elevation Burger, conceived by Hans Hess and opened by Hess and his wife April Hess in 2005, is located at 442 S. Washington Street in Falls Church. Clare and Don’s Beach Shack is hosting a fundraiser for the Falls Church Volunteer Fire Department on Sun, June 7 from 2 – 6 p.m. Guest firefighters and paramedics will bartend and raffle prizes while live music is played and a variety of refreshments and specials are offered. Clare and Don’s is best known for fresh seafood, creative vegetarian options, fun, relaxed atmosphere and their comfortable patio. Clare and Don’s is located at 130 N. The new Falls Church branch of Virginia Commerce Bank is hosting its Grand Opening celebration in conjunction with the Tinner Hill Blues Festival on Sat, June 13.
