Three students from Trinity School at Meadow View in Falls Church were honored as winners of the F.C. Rotary Club’s annual seventh- and eighth-grade essay contest, held last Thursday evening at Harvest Moon Restaurant.

Winners were Joseph Walker for first place, taking home $75; Brad Elliott for second, winning $50 and Michael Runyon for third, a prize of $25.

Rotary’s four-way test, set of rules Rotarians aspire to live by, was the topic. Guiding the things Rotarians “think, say or do,” the four rules ask: 1) Is it the truth?; 2) Is it fair to all concerned?; 3) Will it build goodwill and better friendships? and 4) Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

Walker’s winning essay will advance to the District Competition level, where it will compete for first, second and third place awards of $1,000, $500 and $250, respectively.

The F.C. Rotary club also sponsors an annual High School Speech Contest and High School Music Competition.
