The Boeing Employees Community Fund of the National Capital Area donated $15,000 to Falls Church-based Capital Hospice to help assure hospice services for those lacking insurance or other means to pay for their care. Jim Chamberlain, Operations & Maintenance Manager, Boeing Service Company in ChantillyB, presented the donation to Sally Mallison, Capital Hospice Manager of Foundation and Government Grants, and Patti DeBuck, Capital Hospice Vice President of Philanthropy. Dressbarn Selling ‘Hope Bracelets’ for American Cancer Society
Dressbarn, an off-price women’s apparel retail chain, is supporting the American Cancer Society’s event through the sales of Hope Bracelets, available in stores the month of May. IRS Open House in Bailey’s Crossroads Next Saturday
The Internal Revenue Service will host a special nationwide open house on Saturday May 15 to help small businesses and individuals solve tax problems. Two hundred IRS Taxpayer Assistance Centers across the country, including five in Virginia, will assist small business owners and individual taxpayers with notices and payments, return preparation and a variety of other tax issues. Each office will be open from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. local time. In addition to locations in Roanoke, Richmond, Norfolk, Hampton and Fredericksburg, there is also a center at 5205 Leesburg Pike, Rm. 200 in Bailey’s Crossroads. The Open House on May 15 is the first of three events scheduled through the end of June. The next two are planned for Saturday, June 5 and Saturday, June 26. Social Media & Small Business Forum Set for May 25
A free social media forum, “Social Media & Small Business”, will be held May 25 from 11 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. at the Mandarin Hotel in Washington, D.C. The Intuit sponsored event will include a panel of small business and social media experts who will address how small business owners can utilize social media to strengthen customer relationships and strengthen the business brand.
