F.C. Chipotle Opening Set for June 25

The new Falls Church Chipotle Mexican Grill will officially begin dishing up its award-winning gourmet burritos, bowls, tacos and salads on Friday, June 25.

To mark this exciting occasion, the first 100 customers to purchase a burrito, taco, bowl or salad after 3 p.m. on opening day will receive a free t-shirt and free burrito card to use at a later visit. As announced in last week’s Business News section, the restaurant will host a pre-opening fundraiser for the City of Falls Church Community Special Events on Patrons who make a $5 donation at the door will receive a big gourmet burrito, salad, tacos or a burrito bowl along with crispy tortilla chips, salsa and a fountain drink. All of the money raised will be donated support the community’s special events. The new restaurant is located in Falls Church’s Broaddale Village Center at 358 West Broad Street.

 

City Gets 1st Certified Green Residence

Potts and Chapa Construction, Inc, was honored by the Falls Church City Council along with homeowners Sally and Norbert Grimm, for first certified green residence in the City. The Falls Church-based home remodeling firm, which has been incorporating green building practices into its projects since Spring of 2006, specializes in National Association of Home Bbuilders’ Green Certified Projects, Custom Homes, 2nd Floor Additions, and Kitchens & Baths. F.C. Housing Corporation Hosting Chamber Mixer

The Falls Church Housing Corporation is hosting the Greater Falls Church Chamber of Commerce‘s June Networking mixer from 5:30-7 p.m. on Tues, June 22. The event, a celebration of supporters and the local business community, will be held in the parking lot of 350 S. Washington Street, the sight of the future Wilden Project. The Wilden project, named for benefactor Bob Wilden, will provide affordable apartments elderly local residents. Refreshments will be provided. The event is free and open to Chamber members and friends of the FC Housing Corp. Enter from S. Maple Street.

 

Falls Church Bakers Recognized in Local & National Publications

Two well-known Falls Church City bakers have recently been highlighted in regional and national publications. Kendall’s Cakes, owned by Kendall Barrett, was deemed a District Favorite in “District Weddings” while Natalia’s Elegant Creations, owned by Natalia Kost-Lupichuk, was highlighted in “Coffee’s Endless Health Debate is Grounded in Fact” by Mary Brophy Marcus in USA Today‘s June 14 edition. News-Press Hires Veteran Sales Exec to Lead Ad Team

The Falls Church News-Press has recently secured the services of Donna M.Talla, an experienced newspaper sales executive. Ms. Talla joined the News-Press with more than 16 years of Newspaper experience in positions ranging from Sales Executive to Publisher of daily and weekly community newspapers. She will serve as the local weekly’s Director of Advertising where she will lead the advertising team of Joe Friding and Lou Emery in the development of new, creative advertising programs. KPMG Bringing 375 Jobs to Fairfax County

KPMG LLP, the audit, tax and advisory firm, will bring nearly 375 jobs to its office in Fairfax County. The firm is a network of 140,000 professionals working in 146 countries worldwide. KPMG recently completed a move from another location in Tysons Corner to renovated space at 1676 International Drive, where the additional jobs will be housed.
