German Gourmet Closing Its Doors on Lee Highway

After 45 years in business, German Gourmet will be closing its location at 7185 Lee Highway on Saturday, July 3. The original business was founded in D.C. by Wilhelm Wenzel in 1962.

The business was sold to Raimund Pagani in 1978 and then to brothers Michael Haene and Clifford Haene in 1997. The brothers expanded the business and opened a second, much larger location in Bailey’s Crossroads in 2007 where they are now consolidating. The Baileys Crossroads store will now be open seven days a week – Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. The Lee Highway store will be open regular business hours through its last day. Fixtures including glass shelving, refrigerators, deli cases and custom displays are available for purchase. For more information call 703-534-1908 or visit www.germangourmet.com. The Bailey’s Crossroads store is located at 5838 Columbia Pike.
