DC Central Kitchen Chosen for D.C. School’s Pilot Program

DC Central Kitchen has been chosen to be one of two food providers for a pilot program focusing on healthy, sustainable and local foods in the DC Public School system. The nonprofit culinary arts training program and food bank will provide nutritious meals at seven schools in Northeast Washington. DC Central Kitchen builds long-term solutions to the interconnected problems of poverty, hunger, and homelessness through job training, meal distribution, and by supporting local food systems.

The organization’s CEO is local resident Mike Curtin, whose photograph appeared on the cover of the June 25 – July 1, 2010 edition of the Washington Business Journal. For more information about DC Central Kitchen and its programs, visit www.dccentralkitchen.org.
