F.C. City Manager Shields Says Talks Underway With Arlington on Shared Costs

In the light of reports that Arlington County billed the City of Falls Church $2 million for its share of Arlington Detention Center use more than expected last week, Falls Church City Manager Wyatt Shields reported to the City Council tonight that a first meeting between the jurisdictions has been held on the matter, and that further meetings are slated to “smooth out the impact” of the billing on the City’s upcoming budget.

Shields said that two principles agreed to at last week’s meeting were: 1. F.C. intends to meet its obligations, and 2. a predictability and consistency in bookkeeping be established that has been lacking so far.
