Kathy Allan Named 2010 City of Falls Church Employee of the Year

Kathy Allan, Environmental Programs Specialist, has been named the 2010 City of Falls Church Employee of the Year. The Employee Review Board selected Allan for her leading role in outsourcing the City’s solid waste system from a service performed by City employees to a private contractor. This change saves the City approximately $150,000 per year. Allan also spearheaded the effort to bring trash and recycling carts to City customers without eroding the savings. In addition, Kathy Allan’s efforts have elevated the City’s recycling rate to achieve the highest level in Virginia for the second year in a row.
