Child Development Center Options Mulled

The Falls Church City Council began in earnest Monday a discussion on its options for the future use of the Child Development Center, located on City land at 111 N. Cherry St.

The facility is currently used by the Easter Seals Society as a daycare center for 80 families, including many City residents. The F.C. School Board hopes the Council will not renew the lease with Easter Seals and make the site available to address overcrowding in the schools’ day care efforts. Dan Polk, Stuart Rubin and Amy Rogers were among the parents who petitioned the Council to keep the current use of the center. Mayor Nader Baroukh said that while more discussions are necessary, the “can will not be kicked down the road on this one, because there are families involved.”
