Shire School Students Help Out at Assisted Living Facility

img_093Students from the The Shire School visited Sunrise of Falls Church, an assisted living community, on May 25. The Shire School is a small, non-profit, special needs school in Falls Church. This intergenerational project was the culminating activity for a recently completed two-month social science unit, during which students learned about how the various aspects of farming contribute to the general community. Students spent time visiting with the residents and helping them plant flowers in the facility’s garden planters. (Photo: Carin Lomax)
