Mason’s Constance to Move On to State Poetry Contest

Senior Claire Constance is the 2011 George Mason High School Poetry Out Loud winner.

Her recitation of “The Greatest Grandeur” by Pattiann Rogers and “Black Boys Play the Classics” by Tio Derricotte won top honors among 10 GMHS contestants and vaults her into the Virginia regional competition.

Junior Fae Montgomery was runner-up. Other students in the competition were Brian Nelson, Tasha Trock, George deMars, Lily Walter, Sarah Gompper, Elinore McLain, Juliana Morrison and Rachel Dix.
