F.C. Wrestler Wins National Wrestling Championship

DixieNationals2011Dec29PodiumFelix Chang of Falls Church won the 2011 America’s Crown Dixie Nationals Wrestling Championship in the 6-year-old heavyweight division on Dec. 29.

The yearly tournament draws the top wrestlers from across the country. En route to the finals, Felix beat a 2011 Indy Nationals winner from Indiana as well as a 2011 AAU Nationals winner from Tennessee. He won the finals match via pin with eight seconds remaining in the third and final period. Weighing in at 66 pounds, Felix was the lightest in the division, giving up close to 20 pounds to other competitors. Earlier this year, Felix won the Northern Virginia Wrestling Federation Regional championships, the Maryland State Wrestling Association “Future Champions” series, and several open tournaments.
