Clarke County Falls to Lady Mustangs, 68-46

George Mason High School’s girls varsity basketball team continued its win streak last night with a 68-46 rout of Clarke County High School.

The Lady Mustangs struggled to implement their full court press and grab rebounds in the first quarter against a swift Lady Eagles offense, but managed to finish the quarter with a 22-19 lead.

George Mason switched to an aggressive 2-3 zone defense in the second quarter, outscored Clarke County 21-6, and ran away with the game.

Junior Stephanie Cheney led the Lady Mustangs in scoring with 26 points and freshman Katie Goodwin added 14 points. Sophomore Julianna Rollo scored 10 points, including two consecutive 3-pointers made towards the end of the first quarter that put George Mason in the lead.
