Expert Panel to Discuss Transgender Identity

Rock Spring Congregational United Church of Christ in Arlington will host a panel discussion on gender identity and transgender adults and children on Sunday, March 3. Titled “Understanding Transgender: The ‘T’ in LBGT and the Trans in All of Us,” the panel will present societal, psychological, biological and personal perspectives on gender identity throughout the life cycle.

Panelists will be Dr. Edgardo Menvielle, head of one of the world’s few programs for gender-nonconforming youth at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington; Dr. Leslie Rodnan, a physician who works with transgender adults at the Whitman Walker Clinic in Washington, and Ann Thompson Cook, an author and co-director of Many Voices, an organization working to create a national movement for gay and transgender justice from within the black church.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held from 1 – 3 p.m. at the church at 5010 Little Falls Road. For more information, go to rockspringucc.org/church-life/open-and-affirming or contact the Rev. Mark Suriano at 703-538-4886.
