F.C. School Board Consensus Shapes Around 12.9% Increase

At a work session tonight prior to formally convening to vote on its recommended budget later tonight, the seven members of the Falls Church School Board began to coalesce around a 12.9 percent increase in its request for a transfer from the City, below the 14.1 percent increase recommended last month by Superintendent Dr. Toni Jones, but higher than provided in recent memory. One board member, Greg Rasnake, called for keeping the increase request at the level Dr. Jones proposed, and another, Craig Cheney, called for a number lower than the 12.9 percent. The final number will be voted on later tonight.
