Firefighter Injured, 7 Displaced in F.C. Condo Fire

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a condominium fire yesterday morning in the Falls Church area of Fairfax County that displaced seven occupants and injured one firefighter. The condominium is located at 2840 Annandale Road in the James Lee Condominium Complex.

Firefighters encountered heavy smoke and fire coming from the terrace level of the condominium complex upon arrival. Firefighters conducted an aggressive interior fire attack and extinguished the fire in approximately 10 minutes. The occupants were at home when the fire broke and escaped prior to firefighters arriving. The unit did not have a working smoke alarm. Seven occupants have been displaced. Red Cross support was offered but declined by the occupants. One firefighter was transported to INOVA Fairfax Hospital with a non-life threatening injury.

Damage is estimated at $75,000.

According the fire investigators, the fire is under investigation.
