The Merrifield area continues to grow as yet another two eateries look to be coming to the neighborhood later this summer.

Open Road Grille & Icehouse and The Italian Market & Deli, both of the MHG Group (Circa, Trio Grill), appear to be taking over the former Upscale Resale Furniture store located at 8100 Lee Highway in Falls Church. Websites for both restaurants are up and operating, with a “Coming in August ” message on Open Road‘s site and a “Coming in August/September” note on The Italian Market‘s. Construction is well underway at both locations with pictures of the progress available on their respective sites.

Open Road bills itself as “the quintessential mix of country hospitality with urban rock n’ roll,” with details of a patio bar, 50 beers, signature cocktails and burgers on its website. The Italian Market appears to be a store/restaurant combination akin to Arlington’s Italian Store, showing off a wood-fire pizza oven on its website along with promises of pizzas, subs and salads.

Merrifield has exploded with commercial growth over the past year and is quickly becoming one of the area’s top dining destinations as both the Mosaic District and Halstead Square developments rapidly expand their respective lineups of existing and soon-to-open restaurants.
