F.C. Police to Host Prescription Drug Take-Back Oct. 26

The Falls Church Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration are hosting Prescription Drug Take-Back on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Giant Food located at 1230 W. Broad St. Together, their aim is to prevent pill abuse and theft by presenting the public with an opportunity to turn over potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs. The service is free and anonymous.

This marks the seventh of such events in the last three years. Nationwide totals from this April’s event show that Americans turned in 371 tons (over 742,000 pounds) of prescription drugs at over 5,800 sites operated by the DEA and their state and local law enforcement partners. The combined total collected in the six previous Take Back events is over 2.8 million pounds, or more than 1,400 tons of pills.
