Falls Church resident Carol Lofthur-Thun has agreed to spearhead an organized effort to promote a “yes” vote on the City of Falls Church referendum question on the upcoming Nov. 5 ballot. A vice-chair of the F.C. Citizens for a Better City, she said that “plans and a structure to advocate for passage of the referendum” involving the sale of the City’s water system to the Fairfax Water Authority is underway.

“We don’t have a lot of time left, but there is time to make a push in the last few weeks when people are more likely to be paying attention anyway,” Loftur-Thun told the News-Press Wednesday. Anyone interested in helping is encouraged to call her at (703) 346-5104 or e-mail her at carol.lofturthun@gmail.com.

A final public information forum on the water sale referendum will be held at the ArtSpace Falls Church, 410 S. Maple, on Wednesday, Oct. 23, at 7:30 p.m.

  • The major argument for a “yes” vote is that the deal we are getting from Fairfax is better than the beatings were were getting before. For all intents and purposes we are giving away the system, not getting a pile of money because we retain all the debts (including the pension debt – a huge unknown).
