MEH Ice Hockey to Vie for NoVa Championship

The Mary Ellen Henderson Middle School club ice hockey team will play for the championship of the Northern Virginia Scholastic Hockey League on Jan. 31 in a game against Broad Run Middle School.

Currently in its third year of play, the MEH squad sports an 8-1 league record. The team has enjoyed two big consecutive wins, knocking off previously unbeaten Woodbridge Middle School by a score of 4-2 on Jan. 10, then defeating the Central Loudoun middle school team, which previously had suffered only one loss, by a score of 15-10 on Jan. 17.

Leading MEH are two of the top youth hockey players in the Washington, D.C. area: eighth-grade defenseman Henry Middlebrook and seventh-grade goalie Jack MacKinnon. Also playing on the MEH team are Viktor Anderson, Tom Barbour-Leslie, Justin Dixon, Tucker Gaskins, Colin Henderson, Alex Kryazhev, and Ethan Rosenberger.

The championship game is scheduled for 5:40 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 31, at Kettler Capitals Iceplex in Arlington. Admission is free.
