George Mason High School’s FIRST Robotics Team #1418 Vae Victis competed in the Greater DC Regional competition last weekend at George Mason University. Vae Victis faced technical challenges at the start of this weekend’s matches, but after some calibrations in the pit, coaching from mentors, and impressive teamwork the team charged back and made it to the final round.
The best-of-three finals came down to the last match, and Mason’s alliance placed second.
Mason Coach John Ballou received the prestigious Woodie Flowers Finalist Award, which is presented to an outstanding mentor in the robotics competition who best leads, inspires, teaches, and empowers his or her team using excellent communication skills.
