Oakton Otters Open Season With a Win

The Oakton Otters divers dominated Highlands Swim and Tennis Club in the first meet of the summer on June 24, with a score of 43-28. Five Otter divers took first place in their respective categories: Haley Liddell in Freshman Girls with a score of 67.10; Lexi Pierce in Junior Girls with a score of 91.35; Blaise Wuest in Junior Boys with a score of 75.70; Liam Klopfenstein in Intermediate Boys with a score of 134.30; Elana Colbert in Senior Girls with a score of 169.60. The Otters also swept the top three places for Freshman Girls, with Claire Newberry placing second and Molly Kenefick placing third. The other Otter divers who placed were: Sarah Gurley (Junior Girls, second), Mackenzie Brennan (Intermediate Girls, second), Brad Burgeson (Intermediate Boys, second), Julia Powell (Senior Girls, third), James Crowley (Senior Boys, second), and Grant Newberry (Senior Boys, third).

The divers lost their second meet of the season against Highland Park and Swim Club on Tuesday evening with a score of 29-43, bringing their winning record to 1-1. Three Otter divers took first place in their respective categories: Haley Liddell in Freshman Girls with a score of 74.20; Mackenzie Brennan in Intermediate Girls with a score of 157.05; and AJ Colbert in Senior Girls with a score of 188.05. The other Otter divers who placed were: Claire Newberry (Freshman Girls, second); Lexi Pierce (Junior Girls, second); Blaise Wuest (diving in a higher age group) (Junior Boys, third); Kenna Campfield (Intermediate Girls, second); Elana Colbert (Senior Girls, third); and Grant Newberry (Senior Boys, second).

The Otters next dual meet is on Tuesday, July 7, at Ravensworth Farm Swim & Racquet Club.
