John Eaton Continues ‘Jazz Masters’ Series This Weekend

Jazz pianist, musicologist and humorist John Eaton will return to The Alden Theatre at the McLean Community Center this Saturday, Oct. 4, at 1 p.m. with his popular program “Jazz Masters with John Eaton.”

Jazz Masters is an entertaining and insightful program that combines Eaton’s peerless knowledge of the Great American Songbook, hilarious commentary and elegant, tasteful renditions of popular and obscure jazz standards.

This time around Eaton will present a seminar called “The Master: The Glorious Songs of Jerome Kern,” on the New York-born and bred theater composer.

Eaton will teach about Kern’s life, writing style and musical hallmarks and will play classics such as “All the Things You Are,” “Smoke Gets in Your Eyes,” and selections from the musical “Show Boat.” For more information about the event, visit aldentheatre.org.
