Manassas Park Man Charged in Fatal Pedestrian Crash in Falls Church

A 67 year-old man from Manassas Park was charged with failure to render aid after police said he hit and killed a pedestrian in Falls Church last Thursday. The incident occurred at 9:45 p.m. on Oct. 16 while Irma Taracena, 61, was crossing Leesburg Pike near Row Street.

Taracena, who lived on Munson Hill Road, was crossing outside of a crosswalk in an area that is not well lit when she was hit by a 1997 Toyota Camry. She was later transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The Fairfax County Police Department said that the driver, Sukhwinder Singh Jhuj, did not initially stop at the scene of the crash but was quickly located at Patrick Henry Drive as he was in the process of driving back to the scene of the crash. Police are still investigating the crash.
