Refugee Blanket Drive Begins Nov. 1

For three weeks beginning Nov. 1, the City of Falls Church will participate in a refugee blanket collection drive to deliver blankets to refugees from Syria and ISIS controlled areas of Iraq who’ve sought refuge in Turkey. According to a proclamation signed by Mayor David Tarter, it is “with the goal of helping those people facing dire circumstances and struggling to meet basic needs.”

The proclamation urges citizens to “make a concerted effort to contribute new or ‘gently used’ blankets to a drop off location at the Falls Church Community Center, 223 Little Falls St.” In addition to the City of Falls Church, other members of the Northern Virginia Regional Commission are participating in this drive.
