Mary Riley Styles Public Library Recognized as a Top Library in the U.S.

Mary Riley Styles Public Library earned a four-star rating from Library Journal, which recognized the library as one of the best in the United States. This is the seventh consecutive year the library has received a star rating.

The library is also one of 256 in the country to receive ratings in the Library Journal award system, which is similar to that of the prestigious Michelin Guide. The library received four stars out of five and is one of only four in the state to be chosen this year.

“It is very exciting to receive the prestigious Star Rating,” said Mary McMahon, Library Director. “This honor confirms that the library is providing excellent services for the community. I am so proud of the library staff for making this possible.”

Every year, the Library Journal compares the levels of library service to those of other peer libraries nationally. The measurement includes the per capita circulation, patron visits, program attendance and public Internet use. Then the services of more than 7,500 public libraries are measured and used by the library industry to determine best practices and trends in library use. The full list of 256 ranked libraries, detailed explanation of the index measurements and information about trends are available at libraryjournal.com.
