School Bond Referendum, Jody Acosta, Beyer All Win by Landslides in F.C.

In two important strictly local elections in the City of Falls Church today, the results tallied tonight were surprisingly lopsided. With all three City precincts reporting, the Mt. Daniel School bond referendum won by an overwhelming majority of two-to-one, and in the special election to fill the City treasurer’s seat acting treasurer Jody Acosta won by two thirds of the vote.

The Hon. Donald S. Beyer Jr. also won by two thirds in Falls Church in the race to replace Rep. Jim Moran as the congressman from Virginia’s 8th District that includes the City of Falls Church. The margin in Falls Church for incumbent U.S. Sen. Mark Warner was even greater. Voter turnout in the City was 59.8 percent.
