Cancer Research Foundation Hosts Casino Night Fundraiser

Team Alexis, the Washington, D.C. chapter of the cancer research foundation The Cure Starts Now, is putting on a casino night on Nov. 15 from 7 – 11 p.m. at the Columbus Club of Arlington. The Columbus Club of Arlington is located at 5115 Little Falls Rd., Arlington.

The event, called A Night to Beat the Odds, will be presented by Koons Toyota and will feature food and drink, a variety of gaming tables, live and silent auctions, music and more.

This is the inaugural A Night to Beat the Odds – Team Alexis has hosted the National Race Against the Odds 5k in Arlington for the past five years, but wanted to try something different this year.

The Washington, D.C. chapter of The Cure Starts Now, started by Neely and Jonathan Agin in 2009, is named Team Alexis after Neely and Jonathan’s daughter Alexis, was diagnosed with a rare form of pediatric brain cancer.

“We continue to utilize the inspiration that we gained from Alexis in an effort to find funding for effective treatments for kids like Alexis who will face this same battle and prognosis,” said Jonathan Agin.

“This event should be a fun-filled evening, but also will be bittersweet as we host it to honor Alexis’ memory.” For more information about A Night to Beat the Odds or Team Alexis, visit dc.thecurestartsnow.org.
