McLean Citizens Group Opposing Mt. Daniel Expansion

After literally years of preparations, including the passing of a City-wide referendum last November, the Falls Church School Board’s efforts to achieve a renovation and expansion of the Mt. Daniel Elementary School located just outside the City limits in Fairfax County may be derailed if the Fairfax County Planning Commission next Wednesday night votes to deny the City of Falls Church and School Board application for the project, which is what an eleventh hour request from the McLean Citizens Association is calling for.

The McLean association board of directors issued a resolution on June 3 calling for opposition to the expansion and denial of the application. The statement includes 29 “whereas” clauses, effectively calling the project “excessive and incompatible with the neighborhood.” The resolution was addressed to Fairfax County Dranesville Supervisor John Foust and Planning Commissioner John Ulfelder among others.
