Local Bands to Compete for Slot at Virginia Music Festival

Four local groups are set to compete against each other at the State Theatre at 220 N. Washington Street next Friday at 7 p.m., for a slot at the 2015 Lockn’ Music Festival, at the 2015 Rockn’ to Lockn’ Contest, sponsored by The State Theatre, Flat 5 Productions, Lockn’ Music Festival, Relix Magazine and WRNR.

The four bands whittled down from a field of 16 are the funk rock trio Gallons to Ounces, jam rockers Moogatu, reggae group Nappy Riddem and rock n’ roll band The Watt Brothers Band. The State Theatre encourages audiences to come out and support the bands and help their favorite band win a slot at the Lockn’ Music Festival this September in Arrington, Va.

The winner of the Rockn’ to Lockn’ Contest will join a slate of legendary rockers. Other musical acts slated for the Lockn’ Music Festival are Jimmy Cliff, Carlos Santana, Deer Tick and Fishbone. Tickets for the Rockn’ to Lockn’ Contest cost $8 in advance and $10 day of the show. For more information, visit locknfestival.com.
