Dorothy Macomber Dies at Age 95

Dorothy Macomber, longtime resident of Falls Church, died at her home on Monday, Oct. 5, 2015.

Dorothy was born in Detroit, Michigan, on Oct. 29, 1919, to Robert Arthur and Fanny Queen Black. On Jan. 30, 1943, Dorothy, was married to Robert Clifford Macomber, in Detroit.

During the summer of 1963, the family moved to Falls Church. After living in Tyler Gardens for two years, Dorothy and Bob found a permanent family home in the city. Dorothy is survived by her children, Jeanne L. Macomber, Robert C. Macomber, Jr., and Patricia A. Day, a grand-daughter, Rebecca, and a great-granddaughter, Christina.

Dorothy will be buried with her husband, Bob, at Quantico National Cemetery. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
