Falls Church HS Students Recognized for Writing

Three students at Falls Church High School, Calathea Pacifica, Christopher Boose, and Abigail Page, were recently recognized by the D.C. Metro Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. All three students are members of Jagazine, a writing and poetry club at Falls Church High School.

Calathea, a sophomore, entered her work titled “When the Sun Rises,” a short story for which she received the Silver Key Award. Christopher, also a sophomore, received the Silver Key award for his short story titled “Wildfire.” In the Flash Fiction category, sophomore Abigail received Honorable Mention for her story “Three Minutes.”

The students competed with over 1,500 submissions with only a third of submissions receiving any sort of recognition. The students had their work reviewed by a panel of novelists, editors, teachers, poets, librarians, journalists and other professional writers.
