George Mason Hoops Tramples Bluestone En Route to Region 2A East Championship

by Matt Delaney

George Mason’s varsity boys basketball team won the Region 2A East basketball tournament decisively after besting Bluestone High School 69-42 last night.

Mason, barring a possession in the first quarter, led the entire game. After beating up Bluestone down low early, the Mustangs switched up the tempo and went pass-heavy to end the first half up 39-27.

In the third quarter Mason continued to trend upward and entered the fourth up 53-32, well-positioned for the win.

Bluestone was hot from long range early, but became weirdly subdued as the game progressed. The game lost its competitive vibe in the second half.

Mason will play Graham High School next weekend at Robinson High School.
