UPDATE: Traffic Lights at Broad and West Streets Lose Power

UPDATE at 5:01: The traffic signal on Broad Street at West Street is back online and operating on a generator. According to Dominion Virginia Power, 48 power outages have been reported. The residential street closures remain in place for through traffic: Ellison Street is closed to through traffic from West Street to Fowler Street; Patterson Street is closed to through traffic, as well.

The traffic lights on Broad Street and West Street in the City of Falls Church are out due to downed wires on Ellison Street. Police are directing traffic.

No injuries are reported after a vehicle struck a guidewire to a power pole, which caused downed wires in the 1100 block of Ellison Street. Dominion Virginia Power is on the scene. Four power outages have been reported.

Ellison Street is closed to through traffic from West Street to Fowler Street; Patterson Street will soon close to through traffic, as well. In a press release about the outages, the City of Falls Church asked residents who live on those streets are for patience and understanding as the potentially live power lines are handled.
