F.C. Students Featured in Book Club for Kids Podcast

The newest episode of the Book Club for Kids podcast features a trio of students from Belvedere Elementary School in Falls Church. Fifth graders Max Schmeck, Mateo Gruendel and Sarah Hoffman discussed Kate Messner’s novel about the not-so-distant future Eye of the Storm with host Kitty Felde.

The novel imagines a world where climate change means almost daily, always deadly tornadoes and a “safe” neighborhood where kids can once again ride their bikes outside without fear.

The celebrity reader for this episode is Laura Furgione, Deputy Director of the National Weather Service, who not only reads from the book, but also talks about the science of forecasting tornadoes. For more information or to listen to the episode, visit bookclubforkids.org.
