Cream Puff Shop Beard Papa’s Now Open in Falls Church

The first-ever Virginia location of Beard Papa’s, the popular Japanese pastry company specializing in cream puffs, is now open in Falls Church. Located in a Skyline business park on Leesburg Pike, the new store is the second Washington, D.C.-area shop for Beard Papa’s, joining a location in Georgetown which opened last year.

Beard Papa’s offers up cream puffs with a variety of fillings, ranging from vanilla and chocolate to green tea and dulce de leche. The Falls Church location also offers seasonal fillings along with a full coffee bar.

Beard Papa’s first opened in Osaka, Japan in 1999 and now there are close to 400 stores world wide, with 170 in Japan, 200 in China and close to 20 in the United States and Canada.

LongHorn Steakhouse Opening Monday in Bailey’s Crossroads

LongHorn Steakhouse will open its doors in Falls Church on Monday, May 16 for dinner and then for regular hours, including lunch, on Tuesday.

The 6,200 square-foot restaurant has seating for more than 240 diners and is located in the Crossroads Place shopping center in Bailey’s Crossroads.

Known for its steaks, seafood and appetizers like the Bloomin’ Onion/Awesome Blossom clone, the Texas Tonion, LongHorn has more than 350 locations across the United States, including restaurants in Chantilly, Dulles, Largo and Manassas.

World’s Largest Banh Mi Chain Opens on Annandale Rd.

Lee’s Sandwiches, billing itself as the “world’s largest banh mi chain,” has opened on Annandale Road in Falls Church. The store celebrated the grand opening of its first east coast location two weeks ago at the Park Plaza Retail Center at 3037 Annandale Road.

Bread is baked fresh daily at the 7,000 square-foot store due to an on-site dough treatment system and baking equipment. In addition to 18 types of banh mi, Lee’s also serves coffee, breakfast sandwiches, pastries, smoothies and sells a variety of Euro-Asian food products.

Lee’s Sandwiches began as a food truck in California in 1983 and now has over 60 locations throughout Arizona, California, Las Vegas, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Taiwan and, now, Virginia.
