FCCPS Enrollment Grows Nearly 6.6% for New School Year

Enrollment for the 2016-17 in the Falls Church City Public Schools has grown at all schools with a division-wide rate of growth of nearly 6.6 percent on the first day of school, with an additional 167 students from enrolling, according to statistics from the school system.

Kindergarten is currently the only grade over Falls Church School Board policy limits with 24 students in a class, two over the 22 student limit. But all grades with the exception of 6th grade are at or very near the upper limit.

In addition to actual new bodies in seats, nearly one in every five students is new to the school system this year. This has caused first week issues for transportation as bus routes have to be readjusted to account for many new and changed addresses in addition to the influx of new students.
