Mary Ellen Henderson Middle School hosted its first STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) Night of the school year on Wednesday, Oct. 5. Henderson principal Ty Harris and the STEAM teachers at the school are hosting quarterly STEAM Nights at the school this year.
The first such event of the year was attended by nearly 50 participants, who solved a variety of problems in collaborative teams. Challenges included building boats for a fan race, building catapults and trying to build the tallest weighted structures out of Play-Doh and spaghetti. The teams with the most points at the end of the evening were applauded and awarded prizes.
